2019 Hans Kilian Prize for Ashis Nandy

Ashis Nandy, founding fellow of the Institute of Postcolonial Studies, was recently awarded the prestigious Hans Kilian Prize for 2019. Ashis had also received the Fukuoka Prize in 2007. The Köhler Foundation in its press release stated that:

“By awarding the Hans-Kilian-Prize 2019 to Ashis Nandy, the internationally renowned psychologist, psychoanalyst, sociologist and co-founder of postcolonial studies, the Köhler Foundation’s award committee honours an academic lifetime achievement which bridges diverse fields of social and cultural scientific research creatively and interdisciplinarily”.

The award ceremony is open to the public and will take place on Thursday, 9 May 2019, 4 pm at the Veranstaltungszentrum of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany.
