Mira Gunawansa is a former TCK (third culture kid) hailing from Sri Lanka. She currently resides in Naarm upon the unceded land of the Wurundjeri People, and is making moves to explore the postgraduate research space of gender, refugee rights and racial literacy. Holding a Master of Development Studies from the University of Melbourne, she is a fellow at The Future of Work Lab, developing resources to assist women seeking asylum in gaining and retaining employment in Victoria.

Mira’s areas of passion and interest lie in the scope of rights-based approaches to development, conflict mediation and disaster management, and Indigenous sovereignty and leadership in sustainability.

Earlier in the year, Mira met with Lily Brown, Odette Kelada, Dianne Jones to discuss their work on racial literacy in Australia.

Mira is an IPCS Intern for 2021.
